Sparta is located along the La Crosse River with a population over 9,600 in 2011. Sparta serves the Hidden Valleys Region, South West WI, Cashton, Fort McCoy and Tomah and La Crosse, Onalaska and the Mississippi River Valley.

Elroy-Sparta State Trail – Enjoy a 32-mile rails to trails converted bike trail with a graded limestone surface. You will need a flashlight through the old stone tunnels. Daily or annual pass required for bikes.

La Crosse River State Trail – Enjoy a 22-mile rails to trail and graded limestone surface. Trail runs parallel to the LaCrosse River through prairies, farmlands, forests and wetlands.

Sparta Butterfest – Enjoy all the local festivals in Sparta, their parades, and other events.

Take the Amish tour of the area and the Amish shops. Canoe or Kayak the La Crosse or Kickapoo Rivers. Horseback ride at Red Rock Trail Rides.

Drive the scenic Wildcat Mountain and Perrot State Parks. Visit the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge.
